Olares 1.11.5 Released: SMB Support, SSH Access, and Improved Experience

We’re thrilled to announce the release of Olares v1.11.5, packed with exciting new features, performance enhancements, and bug fixes to elevate your self-hosting experience.

What is Olares?

Olares is an open-source sovereign cloud operating system designed to empower users with local AI capabilities and private, self-hosted services. It allows you to transform your hardware into a powerful AI home server for running cutting-edge AI models, managing personal data, automating your home, and hosting decentralized apps.

What‘s new

SMB mounting support

You can now mount SMB shares (such as those from a Synology NAS) directly into Olares. This feature allows seamless integration of external file systems, enabling centralized file management within the platform. Whether you are accessing personal media or business-critical documents, SMB mounting ensures smooth and reliable file handling. For details, refer to Mount SMB shares.

SSH access simplified

We’ve added support for enabling SSH remote access through the Control Hub application in Olares. This feature makes managing and debugging your host machine remotely easier than ever. It streamlines workflows for developers or system administrators.

Performance optimizations

Significant enhancements to network performance and file transfer speeds make working with large files a breeze. Resource-intensive applications, such as ComfyUI, now launch faster and operate more smoothly, giving you more time to focus on tasks that matter.

Improved file search

File search has been fine-tuned for both speed and accuracy. Finding the files you need is now quicker and more intuitive, improving productivity and reducing frustration.

Enhanced mobile and tablet experience

Olares now adapts better to your device. When accessed on mobile phones, the platform delivers a mobile-optimized interface. On tablets, you’ll enjoy the full desktop interface for a consistent and seamless experience, no matter your device.

New apps available in Olares Market

We’re excited to announce that several new apps have been added to the Olares Market, expanding the functionality and versatility of your platform. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Coder: Collaborate seamlessly with your team using Coder, a remote development platform.
  • Netdata: Monitor your systems like a pro with Netdata, a real-time performance monitoring tool.
