Olares 1.12.1 Released: Cloud Storage, Team-Ready Vault, and Faster Market

Building on the momentum of our 1.12 milestone, 1.12.1 arrives as the series’ first stable refresh. This release is packed with features and enhancements across Files, LarePass, Vault, Market, and installation, making your personal cloud faster, safer, and easier to run from anywhere.
What is Olares?
Olares is an open-source personal cloud operating system designed to empower users with local AI capabilities and private, self-hosted services. It allows you to transform your hardware into a powerful AI personal cloud for running cutting-edge AI models, managing personal data, automating your home, and hosting decentralized apps.
What’s new in 1.12.1?
Access your cloud storage with ease
Olares 1.12.1 continues to build on our vision of seamless, centralized file management. Powered by a new rclone integration, we’ve now expanded the support to include network storage mounting.

Your files, no matter where they live, can now be managed in one unified view. Easily connect your AWS S3, Tencent COS, or Google Driver, and DropBox to simplify synchronization, backup, and daily access. See Mount cloud storage for more details.
Manage Olares anywhere with a smarter LarePass
With an overhauled Settings UI and optimized underlying API calls, the LarePass mobile app is now your ultimate remote control. Perform critical system actions from anywhere, including:
- Remotely shut down or restart your device.
- Trigger system updates on the go.
- Check the real-time status of your system at a glance.
See Manage Olares for more details.
Vault enhanced: Easy team sharing & imports
The Vault app has been supercharged with two major enhancements for collaboration and convenience:
- Seamless team sharing: From 1.12.1, Vault automatically integrates with your Olares user list to create a “My Team” group, making it super simple to share team vaults or specific items. The owner retains full control, granting access to members as needed for secure, streamlined collaboration.

- Powerful importer: Getting your existing data into Vault is easier than ever. Vault now supports migrations from popular password managers like 1Password and BitWarden. Use the LarePass desktop client to import your secrets from standard formats like
.csv,.json, and even.1pux.
See Manage shared Vaults for more details.
A faster and more responsive Market
To give our users the best performance, we’ve introduced source switch in Market. You can now add and switch to different Market repositories. Picking the source close to you will significantly speed up browsing, searching, and installing apps.
On top of that, we’ve optimized how applications load with a simplified rendering process, making your entire Market experience much smoother and more responsive.
Other enhancements
Olares 1.12.1 also includes a series of refinements to improve performance, security, and flexibility across the platform:
- ISO installation on PVE: Installing Olares on Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) is now simpler. After downloading the required ISO and configuring the necessary parameters, the installation can be completed smoothly. Click to see more details.
- Security & access control (RBAC): Strengthened the system-wide RBAC proxy, leveraging native Kubernetes RBAC for more granular and secure control over inter-application calls.
- More powerful notifications: Both Olares and LarePass now send notifications for application status changes and high system pressure events.
- More enhancements to Olares Settings:
- My hardware: Offers a clear overview of your Olares device, including model, status, identifier, CPU, and GPU, along with easy options to shut down or restart the system.
- Video settings: Provides intuitive controls for playback, transcoding, and hardware acceleration to help you get the best media performance.
- Unified system app entrance: Core services like Desktop, Market, Files are now unified as “Olares Apps”. This architectural cleanup resolves previous display inconsistencies, ensuring applications sort and appear logically across the system.
